Biography

Dr. Theresa Pagliuca is a board-certified Radiation Oncologist at UT Health RGV with over 25 years of experience. She currently leads the radiation oncology services team at the UT Health RGV Cancer and Surgery Center in McAllen, TX.

Dr. Pagliuca was born and raised in New York City and is the granddaughter of Italian immigrants. From her family, she learned the value of hard work - and how to make classic marinara. She is proud to be the first physician in her family. She received her medical degree from New York University and trained in radiation oncology at Beth Israel Medical Center. Dr. Pagliuca learned Spanish while in school, thanks to one of her excellent teachers. She continues to speak the language to this day, though with her American accent.

As a general Oncologist, Dr. Pagliuca treats most malignancies and is well-versed in advanced techniques such as IMRT and stereotactic treatment. She is also qualified to offer treatment for specific conditions with radioactive isotopes. She is most interested in lung, gynecologic, breast, and prostate cancers, and offers radiation therapy to pediatric patients in conjunction with Driscoll Children’s Hospital. Management of cancer-related symptoms, including pain, is an important part of her practice.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Pagliuca has joined the UTRGV School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology. She looks forward to educating the next generation of physicians - and the Rio Grande Valley community - in cancer screenings, cancer prevention, and the potential availability of modern cancer treatments.
