Biography

Dr. Kondapavuluru V. Chowdary is a board-certified Gastroenterologist at UT Health RGV. He specializes in comprehensive digestive health, with a focus on diagnosing and managing complex gastrointestinal conditions to improve patient outcomes in the Rio Grande Valley. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Chowdary serves as the Inaugural Chair and an Assistant Professor of Gastroenterology at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine. 

Born into a farming family in South India, Dr. Chowdary attended and graduated from Government Medical College in Nagpur, India. 

He then moved to Glasgow, Scotland, to work and hone his medical skills. 

After gaining experience in Scotland, Dr. Chowdary moved to New York City to start his medical training at Wyckoff Heights Hospital, and he completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. 

Dr. Chowdary then moved and started clinical gastroenterology practice in McAllen, Texas. 

Along with his gastroenterology practice, Dr. Chowdary has instructed numerous medical residents in the family practice residency program in McAllen. 

Dr. Chowdary is eager to treat patients in the Rio Grande Valley region and train future gastroenterologists at the UTRGV School of Medicine.
