Dr. Henry Reinhart is a board-certified General Surgeon and fellowship-trained Endocrine Surgeon at UT Health RGV. His expertise includes diagnosing and treating conditions affecting the thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal glands, and more. Among his services are minimally invasive thyroid surgeries and a full range of general surgeries.
Dr. Reinhart was born and raised in El Paso, TX, and is fluent in both English and Spanish. He graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in business administration from Texas Tech University and received his medical degree from The University of Texas Southwestern. He completed his surgical residency training at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where he was awarded the Raleigh Ross Award by the Texas Surgical Society, among other prestigious awards. After his residency, Dr. Reinhart completed an endocrine surgery fellowship at Baylor Scott & White Health. He then earned his board certification from the American Board of Surgery.
Dr. Reinhart is currently a member of several notable organizations, such as the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons, Western Surgical Association, Texas Surgical Society, South Texas American College of Surgeons, and Texas Association of Surgical Skills Laboratories.
At UT Health RGV, Dr. Reinhart offers diagnoses and treatments for thyroid cancer (papillary, follicular, medullary, and anaplastic), thyroid nodules, goiter, hyperthyroidism, Graves’ disease, thyroiditis, hyperparathyroidism, and parathyroid cancer. He also provides head and neck ultrasounds for patients when needed. In the Rio Grande Valley, Dr. Reinhart was the first practitioner of Radio Frequency Ablation (RFA), a minimally invasive procedure that uses heat to treat thyroid nodules.
Dr. Reinhart also provides surgeries for the hernia, gall bladder, gastric, colon, breast, and small bowel. Surgeries include oncologic, laparoscopic, open transabdominal adrenalectomy, pancreatectomy, robotic surgery, and more.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Reinhart is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the UTRGV School of Medicine. He is also Program Director for the surgery residency at Valley Baptist Medical Center, where he educates and trains the next generation of leaders in health, medicine, and research.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Reinhart enjoys spending time with his family and friends, traveling, scuba diving, and reading.
